沖縄琉球の伝統的な染色技法「紅型」を自由に表現し、すべて手作業で作品制作しています。



はじめまして。BENITAMA -紅環-です。
伝統を引き継ぎながらも、形式にとらわれない自由な紅型作品を創っています。

偶然通りかかった庭で紅型作品に出会い、一目惚れ。
弟子入りを一度断られたものの、紅型を習いたい気持ちを諦めきれず3年粘り、やっと弟子入りが叶いました。
それからは、とにかく色の美しさ、大胆な模様、さまざまな色の組み合わせ、色の発見が面白く、楽しく、あっという間に18年の月日が経ちました。

2021年、BENITAMAとして新たなスタートです。

Not being bounded by any formality,
I'm creating the traditional Bingata products freely.

One day, Bingata caught my eyes when I walked by the yard. I was deeply attracted by Bingata at the first sight.
Though I was once rejected to be an apprentice, I never give up my desire to study Bingata. My dream came true 3 years later when I applied to be an apprentice.
The beautiful colors of Bingata, the blodness of patterns, the variations and combinations of colors, as well as the discovery of the new colors was so intreasting. Being engaged in studying the Bingata, 18 years have passed.

2021, it’s a new beginning for “BENITAMA”!

■紅型とは　What's BINGATA?

紅型（びんがた）とは、琉球染物、13世紀頃起源とされる沖縄を代表する伝統的な染色技法の一つ。
南国沖縄の光に負けない鮮やかな色の配色と、季節や事象にとらわれない自由な模様が特徴。


Bingata (Okinawan: 紅型, literally "red style") is a traditional stencilled resist dyeing technique originating in Okinawa Prefecture. Bingata typically features a busy pattern of repeating nature motifs such as fish, flowers and fauna in a number of bright colours. Bingata dates from the Ryūkyū Kingdom period (c. 14th century), when the island of Okinawa experienced an influx of foreign goods and manufacturing techniques. It is believed to have developed as a synthesis of Indian, Chinese, and Javanese dying processes.
